I use Access 2002 but have created a database in version 2000 for users with
a different system. The font used throughout the database is Arial. When
users open the database in Access 2000, parts --usually subforms--display as
wingdings, but print out in Arial as they should. What could be causing this
display problem? Does it have to do with unicode or truetype fonts not being
installed? I find it very strange that not all parts of the database have the
display problem.....

Carole, there was a weird problem with the original release of Access 2002
that caused it to use weird fonts in some circumstances.

A dim recollection suggests that this occurred on machines that had many
hundreds of fonts, and that it was fixed in the service packs. You might try
going to:
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/sp
to see if you need a service pack, or else reduce the fonts down to just 100
odd.
