I would like to use Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006 to open a hyperlink
I have in MS Access 2003. This process used to work fine. I had to do no
programing. All I did was insert the hyperlink and when I clicked on it
Digital Image opened the picture.
I had computer issues, had to reinstall all of my software. Now, when I
click on the hyperlink, Access uses IE to open the picture I want, not
Digital Image. I have tried to change the file types in folder options, but
that didn't work. I am completely confused. Can anyone help? Thanks

Presumably you need to change the program associated with the type of file
you refer to. Open an Explorer window, go to Tools - Folder Options and
click on the File Types tab. Find the file extension in the list and see
what is the default program for opening it. It probably will be IE. Change
it to the program of your choice.

Yep. I tried that but it didn't work. I can click on the picture from
anywhere else, and Digital Image will open it. But not in Access. Thanks for
your response, though.

If the address you are trying to follow starts with http, the default
program used to view web pages will be used. If you are trying to open
a word document, make sure the address is something like //C/Documents
and Settings/MyFile.doc and that word is the default program to open
..doc files. Otherwise, check the first suggestion.

I also have the same problem but with excell and word, yesterday when i
clicked on a hyperlink within a word or excell document it would open in the
office xp picture viewer. Today when I click on the hyperlink it opens in
Internet Explorer.

I have made sure that the picture viewer is the default program for opening
..jpg files and when i click on a .jpg file within file explorer it uses the
xp picture viewer to open it. yet when i click on a hyperlink in excell or
word it uses internet explorer.

I have also checked that it does not have "http" at any part of the target
path.

I have opened up the file with 2 other computers, one had the same problem
as I am having, while the other opened it in viewer the same as what my
computer was doing earlier. There does not appear to be any differences in
the settings of the 3 computers.

I have been using frontpage today and that is the only thing that i can
think of that would have had any effect although i can't think of how i would
have managed to modify settings within frontpage to change how hyperlinks in
word and excell open.
