Why does Access stop doing an auto complete on a find from a form

I have an Access database where we have developed a form for data input and
lookup. The form was setup so that when we did a find we could click on a
field and start typing a name and Access would auto complete the name so that
we did not have to type in the whole name, ie SMI would complete SMITH or JOH
woudl complete JOHNSON. I cannot find anything that has changed but it will
no longer work. Any ideas?????

The behavior (auto-complete) you describe works when you are using a combo
box. What type of control are you talking about?

I am not sure, there does not seem to be anything that describes it as a
combo box. There is no drop down arrow in the box until you begin to type a
name in and then the drop down arrow apprears and if you wanted you could
scroll through all of the last names in the database. What is happening is
that when you begin typing in the name the drop down arrow appears but only
has two choices, "If Null" or If Not Null".

Any help you can give would make my life much easier.

Thanks,

I just noted that the box on the form is a text box and what I have described
below was working and has worked for years, it is just now acting up.

?You have a text box that converts itself into a combo box? I suspect
there's some code behind the controls/form. Have you looked there?
