Why does a Word 2003 file closes automatically upon opening?

I have a file that when opened in MS Word 2003, it loads and immediately, it
closes MS Word. This renders the file unusable. However, if I email it to
someone else, they can open it in their computer using Word 2003.

Bad Registry entry?

Please help!

Then try the open and repair option in the file open dialog.
