why does a blank cell =0

is there anyway that i can stop a cell from automatically recognising
blank cell as 0, so when i enter 0 in the cell it recognises it as
number.

i create league tables for football and use different formulas fo
adding the tables up but when the game hasnt been played it comes u
with a 0-0 draw instead of a blank cell.

Hello!

Go to tools>>options>>under the view tab uncheck the zero values !!

You may use another way from the conditional formatting

format >conditional formatting>if cell value equal to 0 format pattern
and choose the white colors
