Why do page numbers in my ToC appear different when viewed by othe

I have created a document with a basic ToC. When I send it to other people
the page numbers are all the same number. What causes this? Is there a fix?

If the recipient opens the document in Reading Layout view, this is known to
corrupt the numbering in the TOC.
