Recently I have started seeing the "Send/Receive" dialog box open when I
close Outlook, even though I did not create a new message. I have done scans
using McAfee Virus Scan to see if there is an infection on my system and have
not found any viruses. When I send a message normally, VirusScan does a scan
of the outgoing message. But it does not scan on this activity. Usually I hit
the "Cancel" button before the "Send" activity is completed. Should I be
concerned about this?

Tools -> Options -> Mail Setup Tab -> Send/Receive button -> uncheck Perform
an automatic send/receive when exiting

Why waste the time? You know it's never going to find one, since VShield is
running as a service all the time. (You do have the little shield in the
System Tray, don't you?) If you had contracted a virus on your PC, Vshield
would already have notified you and taken action to repair or quarantine the
problem file. So scanning outgoing mail just adds an extra layer of nothing
and can cause trouble with the comminication between your mail client and
server.
