Why do "Calendar" and "Contacts" appear in my Outlook Mail folder

Why do "Calendar" and "Contacts" appear in my Outlook Mail folder view? When
I start Outlook 2003 they are not there. But they appear there in the course
of using the program, and cannot be removed except by restarting the
computer.

My guess is that you are switching the navigation pane from the Mail list to
the Folders list. The Folders list is the pre-2003 view that shows a tree
list with ALL the folders.

At the bottom of the button pane is probably a folder-looking icon. When
you hover over it, you see a balloon that says "Folders List". That shows
ALL your folders. You need to click on the Mail button to revert back to
the Mail List view in the navigation pane.

If you click on the Go menu, you will see all the shortcut keys for
switching views in the navigation pane. Maybe you keep hitting Ctrl+6 which
switches to the Folders List view.
