why didnt i get powerpoint in my basic office 2003?

When i ordered my new computer I payed for microsoft office4 2003. I need it
for school. When i spoke with the person from dell they told me everything I
need is on it, now i find out it isnt. I have to go purchase powerpoint which
was the main program I need. why isnt powerpoint included in 2003?

Just to be confusing (or more likely, to maximize profits), Microsoft has
several different versions of Office. They each come with different
applications. Some include PowerPoint and some don't. For more information

Since you are a student, you might want to look into Academic Pricing so you
don't have to pay too much for PowerPoint.

What David said. But also: when you talked with Dell, did you specifically
mention that you need PowerPoint and did they assure you it was part of the
deal? If so, I think you want to call Dell again and tell them you'd like your
free copy of PPT or a free upgrade to Office 2003 Standard. Be polite, but
firm. Talk to a supervisor. And the supervisor's supervisor. Write letters.

You may want to mention that you're also discussing the situation (with Dell's
name prominently included) on this newsgroup where thousands of *potential Dell
customers* will see it.

At times, this can be quite motivating when a large company can't quite
understand why it needs to do the right thing by a customer.
