Hi All,
A friend of mine has Windows XP Home Edition. She claims that there is
no logon password and even no Administrator password. While no admin
password is probably not a good idea, I am still puzzled why she got a
standard "your computer is locked prompt" (Standard Windows Logon),
assuming she never set a password on the machine. I had her shut the
computer off, and then she got the standard Welcome (choose user name)
screen, even though she is the only user.
Even though I cleared the problem by having her depress the power button
to her Dell Inspiron 8200 for 8 seconds, what happened here? Is there a
better or more graceful way to handle this situation?
What happens if you hit Windows-L key combinbation and have no password
set? When I do this on my PC with no password, I just get the Welcome
screen.
Thanks in advance for your help.
