Why can't my computer see the others on the network?

I have windowsXP with all the latest updates. Also have a windows server.
Both are connected to a linksys wireless router(wrt54g). Also have a printserver wps54gu2 connected to an HP5510 all-in-one printer. From the server, all computers and the print server are visible under workgroup computers. However from my computer only it is visible under workgroup computers? I can get to the internet from both computers. What setting is causing my computer not to be able to see anything else on the network?

I have the same problem - exactly - same router, same WP
versions with all the updates - very interesting. Please
help us with some guidance.

I am having a very similar problem, but here are some
more details.

LinkSys wireless router
2 WinXP Home Dell Computers on network (Workgroup =
My_Network)
1 Win98 SE Compaq Computer on network (Workgroup =
My_Network)
Had another Win98 SE IBM Laptop on network (Domain =
My_Network)

All computers had access to all others and the internet.
Was able to map to various shares on each computer.
Printers attached to one of the XPHome Dells and the
Win98 Compaq could be accessed from any other computer in
the network.

Problem:
Upgraded Laptop to Win XP Professional with Domain =
My_Network

The two XPHome Dells and the Win98 Compaq continue to be
accessable to each other.
ALL Computers have access to the internet.

BUT - the XP Pro Lap computer do not have access to any
other computer on the network nor the printers, and the
xp home and win 98 cannot see the xp pro laptop.

I do not have the option of changing the XP Pro computer
to work on a Workgroup rather than a Domain, since this
computer also attaches to my employers network both
within the proprietary network and via VPN.

Does anyone know of a way to get these computers to talk??

Thanks,

Al

Also when I run the new view command for the ip-address of another computer on the network, I get "system error 53".

The problem lies with my antivirus software, which has a builtin firewall. After disabling the antivirus firewall I was once again able to browse the network.

Carlje,

thanks for reporting the cause.
