Why can't I open Word files from CD or DVD? I'm the administrator.

I'm the administrator and can't open Word files (mainly pictures in Word
format) from either my CD or DVD drives. The error message says that I "don't
have permission" and to contact the administrator.

I'm the administrator in my Windows XP Professional operating system. Now,
the "administration" part of the Word program works in my Windows 98, but not
in Windows XP.

I had bought the program originally for 98 and now use with my XP
Professional, and everything works except for the "administrator permission"
part.

Where can I change user/administrator information so that I can work the
programs that I bought.

You can't open files from CD or DVD because Word can't write to the CD or
DVD, and Word *must* be able to create temporary files while you are editing
a document (see “Description of how Word creates temporary files†at
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=211632). You will have no problem if you
first copy the files to the HD and open them from there. If you have Word
2002 or 2003, you might try checking the option (Tools | Options | Save) to
"Make local copy of files stored on network or removable drives."
