I am trying to cahnge the page layout so that when the page prints it will
print on an a3 page. The printer the computer is connected to is only able to
print a4 pages but I want to save the doc to my usb to print it somewhere
else.
Thanks.

Word can't print to any page size larger than the currently selected printer can
handle. If you know what the final printer model is, you can load its driver
locally on your PC and select that as the printer in Word, and then you'll be
able to set the page size.

"want to save the doc to my usb" I assume from this you mean a memory-stick.
To ensure you don't corrupt and lose your document, save to the hard-drive
first, then copy to the mem-stick. Word files especially are succeptible to
corruption if saved, opened, and edited directly from removeable media.
Best of luck
