Why can I Paste Special as Text in Richtext but not HTML Format E.

It has always bugged me that you can use Edit->Paste Special->Text in
richtest format emails, but not when composing in HTML format.

This complicates the insert of text from other documents or web pages where
you don't want to import the original formatting. At the moment I have to
open a text editor, copy the text into it, and the paste it out again.

Any better way to do this? Why do MS not support Paste Special in HTML emails?
 
I think that's because Paste Special pastes OLE objects which aren't
supported in HTML, only in RTF. I may be wrong, though
