Why aren't my emails being sent?

I have Windows Mail set to send/receive automatically every 15 minutes. This works fine for incoming emails. However, I have noticed that emails I am sending only actually leave the Outbox when I do a manual send/receive. Never happened with Outlook Express!

Has anyone else got this problem and is there a fix please?

Thanks,

V

Tools - options - send - tick second box 'send emails immediately'

Yes, but surely even if that is not selected, the emails should still be
sent in the next 15 minute send/receive cycle? That certainly used to be the
case with OE.

To be honest, I prefer not to select the immediate option as I always think
of things I want to add as soon as I have pressed the 'send' button - and
this gives me the chance to reopen the message before it is too late!

Another reason is that I find the auto-spell-check facility does not always
run after one hits the 'send' button, and so this gives one a chance to get
the message back for a manual spell check.

If they don't send and the spell check only works now and then it sounds
like you've got some bug. You could drag the email into drafts until you are
sure its ok then double click it and then send it.

I agree that the OP has a more widespread problem if spellcheck
is intermittent. Perhaps their antivirus program is not compatible.

Also, when done composing a message, you can simply close it,
and the Save dialog will come up, allowing the message to go to
the Drafts folder. For the OP to depend on the temporary reprieve
of a message sitting in the Outbox is like rolling the dice because you
don't know how close the next automatic send/receive cycle is.

We may just have to disagree on some of the above! :-)

However, Gary, can you please at least confirm that my emails should be
automatically sent without having to have the 'immediate' option selected?
I'm sure that's how OE operated.

My understanding is that all emails in the Outbox will be sent at the next
scheduled automatic send/receive cycle. If that is not happening with
yours, then something is wrong.
