Why are there several Symantec.com entries in the MVPS hosts file?

The following 2 entries are among a handful of "Symantec" entries in the
MVPS hosts file:

127.0.0.1 om.symantec.com
127.0.0.1 oms.symantec.com

Those entries have interfered with my ability to perform automatic
updates for my Norton Antivirus product.

Who can explain (or defend) the presence of those Symantec entries (and
the other entries that are annotated with "Symantec" in the MVPS hosts
file?

At this point, I don't think anybody is going to waste any time explaining
anything more to you. :) If the entries bother you, remove them.

That's what I had to do for a Symantec product.

The MVP Hosts file isn't really even suggested here in a.c.a-v while it is in a.ps. so why
you are asking here I don't know.

Contact Mike at http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

BTW: I supplied you a whole bunch of information you requested and you did not even
comment on it.

It took me about 15 seconds to find the answer.

Besides, why would you ask here, instead of asking the MVPS people, the
authors?
