I must ahve set something without knowing it. When I reply to an email in my
inbox I want to save the original message in my inbox but it is being deleted
when I sent the reply. How do I fix it?

Can you provide more detail? When you reply to an email, does that
original email which was in your inbox go to your deleted items? I
just want to be clear on the symptoms.

A quick scan of the web suggests you might have your view set so that
it will not display read emails. To tese this assumption, can you tell
me whether or not read emails are being displayed in your inbox?

When you reply to an email, outlook changes its status to 'Read'. This
also happens if you double click on the email. If you are not able to
see read emails in the Inbox, they may still be there, but simply
filtered from your view.

To fix this, go to View | Arrange By | Current View

See if there is a check next to "Unread messages in this folder". If
so, uncheck this and it should solve your problem.

Good luck.

If you use Outlook with an Exchange Server with locally cached folders, you
may have two deleted item folders. One synchs with your deleted items on the
Exchange Server (in your OST) and the other is in you local folders (PST).
If you had moved the incoming message from the default inbox to a local
folder for storage and delete it, it goes to the local deleted items folder
not the one which synchs with Exchange. Look to see if you have two deleted
items folders.
