why are my deletions in track changes mode appearing in strikethro

Balloons is ticked under Options but deletions still appear in strikethrough
rather than in the margin. It's happened suddenly and without me loading any
new software. Any ideas?

Change the setting for Deleted Text under Tools>Options.

Are you in Print Layout view? If you are in Normal view, you'll see
insertions and deletions "the old way."
