why are day entries spread over 2 days when synchronizing

I run Outlook 2002 at home and have to use Outlook 2000 through an exchange
server at work.

When synchronizing my IPAQ, I frequently end up with events such as
birthdays or holidays spread over 2 days after synchronizing. Opening the
event and closing it again sorts the problem, but it's annoying and
unneccesary.
