Why are all my Word files "unavailable"?

Each time I try to open a file to read or print, it gives an error message
saying.................."file is unavailable"?

Any directions?

Thanks to both of you for your help. I have done both in the process of
trying to correct the problem. Neither has worked. Actually we are working
with a Word guru from Microsoft and he is having difficulty with finding the
probvlem. Any other direction would be appreciated.

Once again thanks for the help. I have tried several things both at your
sight, Graham and at Microsoft. Nothing I have done so far has helped. I
havent lost anything but I still cannot access files thru Word. I can
however access thru word pad.
Any other information will be appreciated and tried. Thanks, Suzie
