Who has the file open?

When someone is using a write-protected document, is there a way I can check
to see who has it open and has forgotten to close it?
I have checked in the properties box but that only tells me who has access,
not who has it open.

I need to resolve the exact same problem. I know there's a solution because
the name of one of the authorised users of the document is visible when he
has it open. I'm still investigating why he's different from all the others
- no luck yet.

I found the answer. If you can get everyone who has access to this file to
make this simple change in their PC, then you will be able to see who has the
file open.
In Tools - Options - General - User name (each should type their personal
user ID).
