Is it possible to determine who created a new workgroup on a network?
Would auditing have achieved that if I had it on prior to its creation? I
have admin priviliges on my domain, but there's a new workgroup and I can't
gain access to it or find out anything about it. Thanks.
I would have thought that anyone can create a small LAN of the main run and
name it "Account2" for example but unless someone knows the password then
they wouldn't be able to make it part of the Domain and the users will
probably log on locally.
If your the guy in charge and someone who isn't authorised is making
additions to the company network then you are within your right to pull the
plug on the machines or log onto them locally (if you don't have a password
I suggest resetting the admin password) then set them up to join to the
Domain. Thus giving you complete control over them, it may be the best
option as unauthorised machines are a good source of virus and trojan
menaces.
