white square in the center of Desktop.

Since recently I seena small ( about 5mm by 5mm) white square right in the
center of my Desktop. When other application are on top they cover it so
that it is not seen through.

What is it and how do I get rid of it?
 
Look in control panel display. See if you have a wallpaper\background set.
 
Thanks, Richard, it was exactly the cause. IE wallpaper somehow got itself
set there, when unset it, with it unsetted the square
