I have Windows XP Pro with service pack 2 installed. When I boot my
computer up (after being off over night), I get this white line (that fills
in from left to right in about a second) right before the windows screen
comes up. It happens very fast and is only on the screen for a second or
less and I do not notice any computer problems. It never used to do this.
Anyboday have any ideas what it is?
Thanks

Sounds like you never bothered to cycle through every supported
resolution for your monitor to adjust the size of the screen in each
resolution. The logo screen paints at low resolution but you never
sized the monitor for that resolution, so what you are probably seeing
is the progress bar that is off the physical edge of the screen because
the vertical sizing for that resolution is way to large (i.e., the
painted screen is larger than the monitor's screen).

How do I cycle through the screen resolutions?
