While using wordpad, I can access the font menue and select a different font
or font size but when I look into the wordpad window or look at a print-out
from the printer, the font and font size is always the default. Your
suggestions please.

I would look into the printer's properties first and find out if there's
some kind of option that can cause that problem.

Click Start, Run, type SFC /SCANNOW, click OK. If any files are damaged
or missing, they'll be replaced. You may need to reboot afterwards so
damaged files will be replaced.

No, you can't change the default Font. You have to Change to the desired
Font before you start typing, OR select the text you want to be a
different font, and then change the font.

Are you saying that damaged files are automaticly replaced?

Are you sure the missing/damaged files would be _AUTOMATICLY_ replaced?

SFC is a good utility to run when you suspect that system files have
been somehow corrupted. It validates the digital signatures of all of
the Windows system files and restores any that it finds are incorrect.
It will use the on-disk cache if possible, but SFC may require that you
provide your original installation CD or a location with an image thereof.

SFC is not your problem. The problem is in what you are expecting to
happen if you "pick" a different font. The newly selected font will ONLY
be applied to NEW text entered, OR text that was selected/highlighted at
the time the font selection was changed.
