While typing in Word, typing stops

While typing in Word, typing will stop in middle of sentence and I have to
reclick on the word document to restart typing. Why is it doing this? Thanks
 
Do you have other online applications like Yahoo Messenger, which polls for
new messages every few seconds/ minutes?
I experienced this before where my current window (e.g. Word) becomes
inactive and I can't type anything until I click within the window again.
I found it was because my Yahoo Messenger was trying to poll for new
messages but my LAN cable had come undone and so it can't get a connection.
When I shut down my Yahoo application, the problem you described disappeared.

I do have Yahoo, but I think this happens even when I'm not connected to the
internet and Yahoo is not up. I have dial up so I'm not usually online when
I'm typing. But I will give this a try. If anyone else has any other ideas,
I'll appreciate anything. Thanks again Melissa
