While typing a new message, outlook freezes up. And the user has to wait for
like 3-5 minutes till its back to normal. does not allow to to type any more.
Please help !

Please provide the following information:

1) Version of Outlook
2) Email environment: Exchange, POP3, etc.
3) Does the user have a PST? If so, what is the size?
4) Are there any error messages/numbers?
5) Have you checked the application event viewer for any Outlook or
Office-related errors? If there are, what are the Event ID number(s) &
source(s)?
6) What troubleshooting steps have you taken yourself, so you're not told to
take steps you've already tried?

Also, please check the following:

1) Is the antivirus scanning incoming/outgoing mail?
2) What is the polling frequency for mail?
3) Are there any COMs, Add Ins, Fax software running?

Hello K. Orland,
I just posted a similar thing happening to me. I did a search before I
posted but I did not get any hits to this message..

Anyway, I have exactly the same issue.
It is in the OUTLOOK 2007 Beta 2
Exchange connected via VPN.
My Connection: Cable (6-8 mbit download)
Exchange connection: dedicated T1 (1.5 mbit)

OST file size 250 Mbytes Archive.PST 550 Mbytes
Not running instant search because it won't load (already read related
messages on this).
Steps I have taken. Closed any unnecessary programs. However, I have a
number of extensions in Outlook (Mapilab tools, Mapilab duplicate remover,
Worldcard scanner, Nextup speech, MS Business contact manager beta).

Hi Kathleen,
Would it not be easier to somehow upload our system information instead of
trying to guess which application or device driver might be causing this?

I am running Nortons corporate antivirus, polling frequency ( I have no
idea) I am direct connected to exchange via vpn previously described
connection speed but I will tell you that it happens when I am in the office
too. I am connected to the server via Gigabit Lan.
