Which to use - syncro or briefcase?

We have a computer and 3 laptops in a local area network, and want to ensure
that we are all viewing updated files as much as possible.
I've read the XP help, but can't identify whether synchronising or using
briefcase would be better.
Does anyone know the relative merits of these 2, or are they just different
ways of doing the same thing?

Overall, it's close to being two ways of doing the same thing. However,
offline files is more robust solution, especially with respect to
synchronization and version checking. For the needs you've outlined, I'd
personally suggest going with offline files.

Thanks so much, Dan.
By 'offline files' do you mean that the synchro approach is the more robust,
rather than using briefcase?
