Which socket 478 runs coolest

I am building a Shuttle SB61G2 V4 Small Form Factor Socket 478 Barebone Kit.
It is going to end up in my living room media center. All the different 478
core names are a bit confusing. I don't want the system to be a dog - but I
don't need the maximum clock speed either. I guess it would be nice to have
HT but even that is not absolute.

So I wonder if I pick a speed say 2.6GHz will a 533 FSB run hotter than an
800 FSB because the chip has to run a much higher clock multiple?
Will 90 nm run cooler than 130 nm given the same clock speed

Finally does anyone know if there is someplace to get this kind of info,
where does Prescott fit etc. What would really be great is a table that had
the chips and their approximate temperatures at 50% load or some such

TIA

The coolest running P4 CPU's were the Northwoods, which are no longer
manufactured but might be available on Ebay. The Prescott's run VERY Hot.

also don't be fooled by the 533 bus. there are the few odd prescott core
cpus out there running on 533 but they still run hot

Newegg still sells the northwood P4s, but it seems a little counter
intuitive. the northwoods all seem to be 130nm while the prescotts are 90
nm. One would think the 90s would run cooler. Anyway it looks like I can get
a 2.5GHz P4 northwood for about $150 - that should be plenty fast for what I
want to do Thanks for the information

Agreed but I just picked up a new 2.8Ghz Northwood core retail package
from ZipZoomFly.com for $260 with free shipping. Box was secured and
has tamper proof tape so know it is good. Yes it is about $70 more
than any Prescott but it runs cooler and faster due to the fact they
exteneded the number of stages in the pipeline on Prescott from 20 to
30. Wattage it runs about 75 vs 95 for Prescott. Prescot is an Intel
f*&k up as far as I am concerned. That's why you can't find the 2.8
Northwood but can find all kinds of much older Intel CPUs for sale.
The 2.8 Northwood was Intel's best before they put out the Prescott.
They can't have their slower speed older Northwoods beating the crap
out of Prescot so they stopped making them.

thanks - good news is Newegg specifically labels the cpus northwood or
prescott.

I was shopping for a Northwood two weeks ago and they only had the 3.2
retail and 2.8 OEM available. It's interesting that the Northwood 3.2
carries a ~$60 premium over the Prescott.

Newegg has the 2.8 GHz northwood (retail) available - I just ordered one
$201

Zipzoomfly.com has (or did have last month) the 2.8 Northwood Retail
which is what I bought. Yes, it cost $260 which is about $80 more than
a 3Ghz or higher Prescott but it runs at 75 watts vs close to 100
watts and max temp allowed is 75C instead of 65C. I didn't want a
hotter slower 33% longer pipeline Precott.
