which cpu is the best performer...

Witch one the following cpu is the best without thinking of it's
physical differences.

The Barton 3200 400fsb
or
The Thoroughbred 3200 400fsb

I'm asking that because a got a Barton core 2600 333 and my friend got
a Thoroughbred core 2600 333 fsb. yesterday we had some thing to do
like research on the web... and we finally got on to 3d games through
a LAN setup... The interesting part is that he's computer was doing
better on the web and a bit less on video game due to he's video card
witch is a nvidia mx400... And also for the file management he got a
maxtor 80gigs 2megs of cash and on mine i got a maxtor 80gigs 8megs of
cash and it seem again that my computer is slower than he's. Ps i
defrag my hd each mount... i say slower when it come to bring the
information of each file that has to be shown to the screen...

I'm wondering if it's not my motherboard that sucks that much...
i got a a7n8x-x 400 nf2 and my friend a asus a7v8x-x What would be the
big difference between them???

How can I not take that into consideration.

There would not be a big difference. Problem probably has to do with
different amonts of spyware and other programs running in the background.

This is a fairly easy Question to answer .. the Barton 3200+ , only because
there is no such thing as a Thouroughbred 3200 400, the highest they went
was 2800/ 333.

Nothing. (the only differences are "physical" and I'm ignoring them)

If there was a Thoroughbred 3200, it would perform about the same as a
Barton 3200, overall, since the number is a relative performance mark.
Since the Tbred has less cache it would need to be clocked higher than
an equivalent Barton.

The difference would be:
Barton: Performs better on cache bound operations.
TBred@ Performs better at number crunching.

OK, so why not just ask the difference between these two?

Exactly the same applies, BTW.

Barton 2600+ is 166MHz * 11.5 = 1917MHz with 512KB Cache

Tbred 2600+ is 166 * 13.0 = 2133MHz with 256KB Cache

So in terms of number crunching, the Tbred is ~10% quicker.

Shouldn't really be much difference. IIRC neither has Dual Channel and
should perform pretty much the same, give or take a couple of per cent.

Any difference in web browsing is probably OS / software bloat related.

Make sure you have the latest drivers.

Do you both have the same amount of RAM?
