Which Canon inkjet printer?

C

Craig

I currently use a Canon ip4000 ink jet printer.
I would like to add another ink jet printer which performs better than
ip4000.
BTW, I like ip4000 but there is no reason to buy the same printer.
Please advise me. TIA. Craig

It would help if you would define the term "performs better". Do you
want faster printing, better quality photos, cheaper operating costs etc.?

The ip4000 is not in production anymore. The heads likely are and the
mp780, the only fax inkjet all in one should still be in production.
All newer models are going to to offer smaller ink drops. I should say
5pl and 1pl drops rather than the ip4000's 5pl and 2pl.

So the new printers, while i've not seen them enough to judge, are
likely going to offer better shading than the ip4000. Peformance, as
in speed, might be reduced for color photos because simply you have the
choice of the same large brush or an even smaller one. But you might
prefer the look of having more shades rather than finer dots or both.
Or you might want faster text printing. As Michael said we don't know
what you want that's better.

If your not using Canon OEM ink then replace the ink carts with OEM
ink. You should see a difference after all of the junk is purged from
the printer

Thannks Michael,

That's what I want. Please name a few names.
I need it as soon as possible. BTW, if you could, also advise to where to
get it at reasonable priice.
Thanks.

I would recomment the Canon PIXMA iP8500. It is one of the best photo
printers sold and is extremely fast too. Here's a link to Canon's web
site: http://tinyurl.com/4x23d As for where to buy one, I suggest
doing a Google search and check the Seller'a rating.

Can anyone tell me how to set up the plonk in 40tude dialog so that I can
shove meankite in it? Thanks Eskay.

It's called "killfile" and it makes your participation on the newsgroup
infinitely more pleasureable.

Get one of the 8 colour printers - I think the ip8500 is one of them. I've got
the A3 version with the same internal bits (AFAIK) and the picture quality is
very high.

While the IP8500 printer is a fine printer it is a BAD CHOICE since you
already have an IP4000. To enhance your performance in speed, results,
and capability you should consider the Canon i9900. Combined with Canon
OEM ink you can achieve stunning results up to 13x19. The other IP
choices are limited to letter size.

The only way the i9900 is better than the ip8500 is that it can print on A3+
size paper. AFAIK.

Yes, inbetween we have the i960 and the i6600D. There is also the
ip6000D but I tend to lean tward the older i960 as it was a flagship
model and it's got more nozzles. The i6600D has both light inks and
the smaller drop size. I've not actually seen anything from it yet,
it's far too new.

In japan there is also a pixus ip7500 which offers both the extra light
inks and a pigmented black. The only North American or European model
that offers both is the mp900950. I have no idea if canon intends to
release this in those markets. Presently a $230 printer converting the
yen to usd.

And 11x 14 and any large size suitable for framing. That is a big deal.

Thank,,Eskay.

Depends on the newsgroup reader you use. I use MS Outlook Express. If that
is the reader you use you highlight one of the posts from the person you
wish to killfile, click on "message" on the toolbar, click on "make rule
from message", indicate what the "from" info is from the poster, then click
to delete his posts, name the rule if you wish, and you are done with
his/her/its posts forever (except for when others answer him/her/it without
deleting his drivel from the reply.)
