Where to put files from old pc hard drive that are now on usb

I have all the files transferred from the old pc onto a usb , how do I know
where to put them.

Example: quick books,
 
You can only transfer / move data files and not program files
You would need to install your programs from cd, eg quickbooks then open its
configeration pages to find where its data is stored.
Office docs are usually stored in My Documents
