Where to Learn Csharp step-by-step

Hi

I am taking the 2555 class and a lot of the material is over my head. I don't like the MS's book because there is no step-by-step on interacting with the VS.NET

Is there good free resource in the web?

If not, I have pulled a few books in the following. I am wondering which book has the concise step-by-step with lots of pictures helping to navigate on how to do something simple, i.e. concept of tabbed dialog box, web form, asp.net, etc. I am not interested in advance concepts, yet. So the Programming C# by O'reilly is a bit over my head. Learning C# by O'reilly is good general book, but, lacks the GUI portion

Thanks in advance

I know you said you did not like MS books but I found this one fascinating:

ISBN: 0-7356-1800-3
Programming in the Key of C#: A Primer for Aspiring Programmers (MS Press)
Release Date: 8/6/2003

Thanks,

I have to agree with John. This book is fascinating in its approach to
teaching programming from the ground up in general and C# while he is at it.
Well written too as all of Charles' work is. I would recommend this one to
all brand new programmers.
