Where is the file in print to file located..?

It's exactly where *you* told the application to put it. Do
a search for *.prn, you dolt.
 
There's no file path in the printer's dialog box, or anywhwere. A search for *.prn doesn't work either. Isn't at the port FILE: where *you* should put it?

What application? If I try to print to a file in Word, for
example, after "OK" in the print dialog box another window
pops up asking for a filename and path. It can't work any
other way. BTW, your last sentence makes no sense.
