Where is refill cap on HP Q2612A toner located? Where to make hole?

Hello,

My HP Q2612A toner will be empty soon.

Where can I find instructions on where the refill cap is or failing which,
where's the best place to burn a hole in the cartridge?

I still have some toner refills that I used to fill C4092A.

thx

It is difficult to get at the refill cap in this cartridge, the trick is to get
the two pins out. Also not all of this model have refill caps
Open the shutter, remove the spring at one end of the drum, remove the drum
bearing plate from the other end of the drum.
Very carefully bend the half circular plate that stops the drum coming out (and
I mean VERY carefully or the p[late will break and the cartrdige will become
unusable) and lift the drum past the plate and pull it away from the other
bearing. Ensure you do not touch the drum with your fingers or expose it to
light for more than a few minutes. Do not clean the drum unless you have some
dusting powder to relubricate it.
Lift out the PCR and you can see the pins half hidden behind the wiper blade
ends, push them out of the casing with a right angled tool (you may have to
make this) it needs a little force.
Separate the two halves of the cartridge. Remove the end plate from the toner
hopper (opposite end to the gears) and be careful not to damage the spring
contact at the end of the magnetic sleeve, the fill cap will be under that
plate, if it is not then you have to lift the magnetic roller out and fill
there.
Reassembly is not the reverse, you have to leave the hopper end plate off until
you have put the pins back. The magnetic roller has a flat at the end that it
fits the plate you removed, you must align this flat with the plate to get the
end plate back on, it goes on easily if you get it aligned correctly.
The toner for this cartridge is unique so C4092A toner may not work well, you
can only try.
While you have the cartridge separated remove the wiper blade and get rid of
the waste toner. (just two screws) and clean the PCR with a cloth dampened with
water (no solvents).
This cartrdige will only refill once, after that you will need to replace the
drum every two fills and the magnetic sleeve and wiper blade every 4 fills
approximately.
Also, this cartidge is delicate, you need to take more care with it than the
C4092A.

Thx Tony for the detailed description.
wow, it's really complicated and i'm quite certain that i'll botch this up
:(

With the C4092A, I remember I used a pair of wire snips and cut through the
plastic cover on the side to gain access to the refill cap. When I looked at
the sides of the Q2612A, there seems to be a similar looking refill cap
peeking at one end. But I'm not sure. Is there some pictures anywhere that
shows the refill cap location?

Failing which, I would like to burn a hole in the toner section of the
cartridge.

Worse case, I may need to sacrifice this cartridge and do the disassembly
that u described.

thx again,

Is your e-mail address a real one, if not e-mail me at the address I use in the
header (it is real) and I will see what I can do about a picture?
