Where is file(s) for toolbars?

Doug Boufford

Computer running Office 2000 stolen. HDD is backed-up with Ghost
New computer is running Office 2003.
In Excel, I have PERSONAL.XLS with numerous macros and toolbar icons for
the macros.
Macros will run in 2003 but toolbar icons do not show up. Under View
Toolbars, my own toolbar (DAB - which has the toolbar icons linked to
the macros) is not listed.
Any hints as to where to go from here???

TIA

Toolbar and menu customizations are stored in your *.xlb file.

For 2000 it would have been excel9.xlb

You could overwrite the new excel11.xlb with the old one but this can cause loss
of functionality in 2003 due to many new menu items and features.

I would suggest you re-create your toolbar or better yet read this from Dave
Peterson

Your life will become much simpler if you include code to create the toolbar
when the workbook is opened and include code to destroy the toolbar when the
workbook is closed.

For additions to the worksheet menu bar, I really like the way John Walkenbach
does it in his menumaker workbook:

Here's how I do it when I want a toolbar:

(from Debra Dalgleish's site)

Doug,

I've not used Office 2003, but in my Office 2000, my toolbar macro was
Excel.xlb, and it was stored in C:\Documents and Settings\(my
name)\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel. I've now got Office 2007, and it
appears that the file is stored in the same place but is called Excel12.xlb.
