where does word hide the autorecover file?

F

feagin

Hi, I had to go out of town, but never got an answer to
this question so please forgive me for repeating it, in
case someone has an idea: In Word 2002, when I set
autorecover to do backups every three or so minutes, I
cannot find the autorecover file after the alloted time
while I am still IN Word 2002. Under file
locations I set autorecover files to c:\, but there is no
autorecover file there in c:\ while I am still in Word? I
use the file open menu to find it, with all file types
seleted (so no hidden files) but no autorecover file
appears in c:\? Any ideas, on how to find where is might
be or if it exists??

thanks.

I think you misunderstood my question about hidden files. Do you have the
Folder Options in Windows set to display hidden and system files?

In that case I can't imagine why you're not seeing .asd files. If I open the
folder I have set in File Locations I see (interestingly) AutoRecovery save
of Document1.asd and LiveRecovery save of Document1.asd. I have no idea what
the latter is, but since it's dated January 12, I would guess it could be
deleted!
