where do i save a website in frontpage?

I've created my site in FP but don't know how or where to save it. At the
moment my pages start
C:\documentsandsettings\mydocuments\foldername\filename. How do I save the
website so that when I publish it to the internet the mages start
http://www.mydomainname/foldername/filename?

I've registered my domain name if that makes a difference.

Thanks very much

It doesnt matter what you call it on your local machine, it could be
anything (but with no extension), you just publish to your domain.

So you could be working on a disk-based web located on c:\Documents &
Settings|My Documents\My Webs\fredweb

and Publish fredweb to

http://www.youdomainname.com

and it will automajickly become yourdomain.com not fredweb

Rob,

Thanks for the reply. So when I'm linking all my pages using hyperlinks
will the links automatically update to mydomainname.com/filename etc too?

Do I need to set base locations for each page using mydomainname?

Sorry if these questions seem a bit obvious but my books don't give me the
answers

As long as you always open FrontPage and then your web and then a page
when working on your disk based web, FrontPage will automatically adjust the
links when you publish.

However, when you hover links in design view, or when looking at code view,
if they point to your hard drive like this:
file///C:\documentsandsettings\mydocuments\foldername\filename
They have been improperly created and will not be fixed when you publish.

Look up in the index of the books for "absolute URL" and "relative URL" -
these are the two keywords for the info you're wanting, and were asking
about. I'm suprised your book doesn't mention these.

Thanks for this Steve. I do always open the pages and the website from FP
but at the moment my hyperlinks do start
file///C:\documentsandsettings\mydocuments when i hover in design view.

Is it a problem with the base location for the pages maybe?

Thanks

Yes, remove the base location.

But, did you actually *create* a web first, then do you open it within FP as
File | Open Web (or Site) before opening a page?

Thanks Thomas. I hadn't entered a base location so I'll leave it blank and
see what happens when I publish.

Tom I did create a website from the begining and I do always add pages to it
from within FP so hopefully it should be okay.

Cheers
