I downloaded the NVidia Detonator 52.14 drivers to try
them out (for Halo, of course). I unistalled my old
drivers (45.23 I think), and extracted the new drivers...

Except it just extracts a bunch of files into a folder.
No install program, not even any documentation. I know
it's beta, but shouldn't it at least give me some sort of
indication on where the heck these drivers go? Where
should I extract the files?

Thanks,
Marshall

Use the driver update method.

Open the Display control panel, Settings tab, Advanced button, Adapter tab,
Properties button, Driver tab, Update Driver button. Choose "Install from a
specific location (Advanced)". On the screen that comes up, choose "Don't
search". On the next screen chose "Have disk". Browse to the folder that
contains the drivers (in particular, the .inf file).

I don't know whether the 52.14 drivers are signed; I imagine that they are
not. You may need to change the XP security setting to either prompt whether
it's OK to install unsigned drivers, or to do it without prompting. (The
third setting is to never install unsigned drivers.)

This may sound a bit complicated, but it takes little time.
