In Excel 2003, when I go to File\open there used to be the "Favorites" folder
listed under the "Look in:" area. Why is it gone and is there a way for me to
get it back?
Thanks,
Karen

File>Open. In the Look in: browse to your C:\Documents and Settings\user\
and select Favorites folder. Don't open it, just select it.

Now go over to Tools and "Add to My Places"

You can also right-click on any folder currently in the "My Places" bar and
remove it.

Aside from moving the Favorites folder, I don't know of any way to make
it appear at the top level of the 'Look in' list.

However, you could add it to the My Places bar, at the left of the Open
window:

Choose File>Open
Navigate to your User folder, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\YourName
Select the Favorites folder
From the Tools menu, at the top right of the Open window, choose 'Add
to My Places'

Once the icon is in the My Places bar, you can right-click on it, then
move it up or down the list.

Thank you! I appreciate the help.
