Where did notepad.exe go?

Mark

I use notepad on a daily basis, but suddenly it's gone.

I tried to "view source" in IE, then received an error
message that it could not locate notepad.exe. Then I tried
launching it from the Start menu and received a similar
message (application note found). Then I did a search for
notepad.exe and it found none.

Is notepad incompatible with anything? Though I haven't
installed anything new on my computer for over six months.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thank you!

If you use NotePad daily, you ought to use "Edit Pad Lite", one of the best
text editor I've ever seen.

Download at:

http://www.EditPadLite.com/

The Lite version is "free".

One important feature, Edit Pad gives you an option to use an "ini" file
instead of the registry. This means each time you update a file or add /
delete a file, your registry would not grow. Also, it's easy to delete all
shortcut references in an "ini" file instead of the registry.

The app is beautifully written and is extremely stable, while NotePad has
some memory addressing problems in both XP and Win 2000.

On my PC I appear to have 2 copies one in...

C:\WINDOWS\

and one in

C:\WINDOWS\system32
