When will Vista be out?

To computer manufacturers, probably near the end of this year.
Available to consumers, probably early next year.

For stability, start with Windows XP supported hardware and signed drivers.
Keep Windows XP update.
Keep the computer free of viruses, spyware and other malware.
After doing the above, you have eliminated most sources of instability.

Troll or not. Respected people should always give meaningful replies.

And you shouldn't top-post, because it makes a coherent response to you
impossible.
I have not seen our PM giving flippant replies to his adversaries.
The police always treats criminals respectfully even if they are
caught red handed!

The last time I looked, Kelly is neither the PM nor the police. She is a
person who *gives* her time and effort for the benefit of those who need
her help.

I am very fond of certain trolls, but I'm not dumb enough to believe
they're entitled to anything more than an answer in kind.

IOW, he got exactly the answer he deserved.

Well tere is simply no right or wrong way of posting on this particular NG. I sometimes top post it, sometimes use inline replies and sometimes bottom post it depending on circumastances. In case, I could't give a damn whether "it makes a coherent response" or not. Pick your selection whatever turns you on.

If this is the sort of help we get from a "person who *gives* her time
and effort for the benefit of those who need her help" then clearly it wasn't worth the disk it was written on!! Moreover, it wasn't her worth to waste her valuable time!!

I can see that.

I am tired of all the problems and limitation of the exceptional unstable
XP, when will Vista be out so I can have a stable OS?

I'm sure everyone's experience is different, but XP has been exceptionally
good to me. Win95 had to be re-installed regularly, Win98 was much better,
W2K was crap, but XP is excellent.

In fact, I'm not planning on buying Vista for just that reason.

Kelly,

How can you recommend Win98SE to another user? Your advice is highly
respected and sought.

Actually, for speed and safe surfing, Win98 *is*
better than XP. If someone is reasonably tech
savvy and is good at digging up drivers and can
find a Win98SE install CD with a serial key: go
use Craigslist to find some older unwanted P4
or last generation P3 based PC (or anything
with an Athlon). Note the chipsets and drivers
and find the Win98 versions online and save at
least the network driver somewhere handy off
the PC. Then wipe the hard drive and install
Win98 plus all the drivers. Get and install the
latest version of Firefox and Flash (leave IE
at 5.00, but if that makes you nervous, get IE
5.5 and NOT 6.0 from oldversion.com, but
only use IE when you only have to in any case)
and then Google for and download the "Unofficial
Windows98 Second Edition Service Pack"

As far a word processing and MS Office goes,
Google for and download (and later buy) Atlantis
for word processing and any surplus/OEM
version of Office 2002 (XP) or 2000 if you need
that. Finally install some lightweight antivirus
and firewall software (the AVG combo is not
bad and it's cheap.)

You do all this and you'll end up with a blazingly
fast Internet/word processing PC that will make
it very tough to switch back to XP and its sluggish
ways and its frequent asking of sending error
reports to Microsoft because of your impatience
with programs and windows not closing down
quickly enough.

Oh, wait -- this is a Windows XP discussion group,
isn't it? Whoops, nevermind.

Hey there ... Can you explain as to how your statement is true ? What are the problems you are facing with XP that make your statement true ?
