When will Vista be out?

I am tired of all the problems and limitation of the exceptional unstable
XP, when will Vista be out so I can have a stable OS?

I'm not sure why people post about XP instability?! I have no stability
issues with it whatsoever....maybe it's your hardware that's the problem. I
wouldn't think that Vista will be more stable or, for that matter more
secure ( as claimed by Microsoft ).

Vista Beta was released to the public today.

No link as you don't need that type of abuse.

XP is a very stable OS when everything is set up and configured
correctly (including system BIOS) and you don't have any hardware
issues. If you're experiencing persistent instability with XP, it's
very possible that you will have the same issues with Vista.

The last I heard, Vista was to be deployed to consumers in early 2007,
but that date may have already been pushed out or be subject to
further change.

What frightens me is how www.microsoft.com is starting to resemble
www.betanews.com <- and Microsoft's betas are more likely to cause trouble
because people visiting there might not understand (nor bother reading to
understand) what a "beta" is.

Kelly,

How can you recommend Win98SE to another user? Your advice is highly
respected and sought.

That's a disappointment you would say that.

Fista won't be released until MickeyMouse has had the opportunity to first
drop more new features it promised to have in Fista. As to hoping Fista
will be a stable o/s ... probably not in the cards as it is NOT a complete
new rewrite but will contain much XP code. Think of it as a facelift for XP
which on the surface may look different, but, under the surface will still
follow the XP trend of instability.

No one really knows because MS keeps failing their deadlines. Last
official announcement was first quarter 2007 sometime, but then there
has also been articles saying it will be delayed again.

Besides I wouldn't recommend you rush out and get Vista right away,
because most MS operating systems are not stable until the first or
second service pack.

Have you tried Linux yet?

In my experience XP is *extremely* stable. I've been running it here since
it was released, and haven't had a single crash or freezeup on any of my
three systems here. The same is true of almost everyone else I know running
Windows XP. If you are having stability problems, either you have flaky
hardware or you are doing something very much wrong. In either case,
changing to Vista or any other operating system is unlikely to provide you
any additional stability.

That said, it's expected out early in 2007.

As much as it strains me to admit it for I am no MS fan, I agree about the
stability of XP.

Actual. I think the problem with the stability issues is some of the
oem manufactures that don't use quality hardware.

I do think xp is more prone to viruses and spyware this is because
Microsoft left to many services open to the Internet, which may not
change with Vista. I can not say. I have not seen vista.
Neither of my computers will be able to run Vista.
One has 98se. The other has/had windows xp sp1.

I do not like the Manufactures changing to non ata(ide) drive through.
It may or may not limit what operating system can be installed on the
hard drives. Not sure. I not a hard drive expert.

Troll or not. Respected people should always give meaningful replies.
I have not seen our PM giving flippant replies to his adversaries. The
police always treats criminals respectfully even if they are caught red
handed!

What exactly does a "stable OS" actually mean? Could you define it
please before a meaningful reply can be given.

Thanks.

Quite honestly darling, I don't give a damn!

The final release date for Windows Vista has yet to be announced.

However, if you have an unstable WinXP installation, you'll need to fix
your hardware problems; changing the OS won't fix those.
