When typing, text drops to signature line instead of wrapping

When using my laptop and typing text in an email, sometimes the text drops to
right after the signature box, in the middle of the box, or somewhere else on
further down the email instead of wrapping to the next line. What could be
causing this?

the touch pad mouse is too sensitive, and you are touching it maybe with your
thumbs while typing and moving the cursor?

But what other key would I also be hitting to drop it into various places? It
doesn't always jump to the end of the signature block - sometimes it drops
into the box, sometimes before and sometimes after. I can understand the
thumb dragging, but I though the cursor doesn't actual move until you hit the
enter key and that wouldn't appear to be the case here.
