if someone requests a program or type of program and a solution can be
found on pricelessware lists, should we either post the link to
pricelessware (to get more hits), post the link to the homepage if there
is one, or both ?

i'm leaning more towards just the home page as not to cause confusion
(esp. if pricelessware links have not been updated recently with newer
versions?)

I personally would definitely like to see a link to the programs homepage.
More chance of finding out more about a program, more likelihood of getting
the current release, support, faq, etc and there may of course be a few more
goodies from the same site...and maybe the freeware authors deserve a few
hits on their own sites too.

At the same time, I'd personally have no objection to a link to
pricelesssware in addition to the homepage (although it may be a bit of a
waste of time as I think most folks would go to the prog homepage)

I think a link to both.

I agree most people wouldn't go to Pricelessware, but it does alert
newbies to the fact that it exists. And if the prog home page might have
a few more goodies, then newbies going to Pricelessware will certainly
find some there!

May I suggest - copy the PL link from the PL program index page:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2005/PL2005ProgramIndex.php

then copy and paste the PL description into the post - for example:

That furnishes some useful info in the post as well as links to the home
