When printing footer display {PAGE} of {NUMPAGES} instead of numb.

After setting the footer to display Page X of Y. I went to print out the 2
pages. Instead of showing the numbers 1 of 2 . The print-out shows Page
{PAGE} of {NUMPAGES} . I did a check on print preview it also display the
same text that is printed out. How can i get the pages to print correctly.
Please assist
