I can open documents fine and if I click on an already created document it is
fine, its just when I open Excel to go create a new document there are no
cells, just gray, I have to then click on Open and then the cells come up.
I can't really get to any options etc, until I open a worksheet as well.

I have tried the following:
*Detect & Repair
*Making sure "Ignore Other applications" is unchecked
*Made sure the sheet is not hidden.
*I have unregistered and registered excel from the command line.

I'm to the point where I think I will just uninstall and re-install.

Are you using xl2007?

You may be suffering from a common problem in xl2007 that lots of people have
complained about. The workbook is open, just not visible.

One way to see it is to click on the Office button and start to open another
workbook, but then just dismiss the dialog. You may see your workbook open
after this. (Ctrl-O, then escape may work???)

Currently, there isn't a fix--just workarounds.
