when I open Outlook it changes my display screen resolution

toshiba Satellite m55-s329. Outlook changes the resolution from 1280X768 to
800X600 and I have to use Control Panel>Display>Settings to change it back.
Every time. THe computer boots up in 1280X768, but switches back when I open
Outlook.

I have Windows XP and Office 2002 Professional. I don't know what drivers I
need--I've been using this for awhile, and haven't had this problem before.
I've been downloading updates as they're available online.

If you used MS driver updates that was likely your mistake.
Drivers, only if required to cure a problem or give extra functionality,
should only be sourced from the specific hw / PC manu.

In hardware devices, locate your display device & roll back the driver, or
visit the manu site and install the driver

I had this same problem on one of my machines - it was driving me nuts. I
stumbled upon a solution (at least for my machine). Go to your desktop, right
click on your Outlook Icon, Choose Properties, then go to the Compatibility
Tab - make sure there aren't any screen resolution settings checked. That
fixed it for me. I have NO idea how they got checked to start with, but I
hope this solves your problem.
