You must be writing your date like this [=26/06/2008] which is a wrong thing
to do... the date is not a formula so there is no need to use = sign before
writing the date...

What you should do is just write the date without using any special
characters like -, =, / etc... If you want the date 26 jan 2008... then
simply write 26jan2008 OR 26[space]jan[space]2008.... Next what you can do is
right click the cell where you have written the date and select "Format
Cells" In this under the heading "Number" below that "Category", there is a
long list: General, Number Currency etc.. select on "Date"... On the right
hand you will see the heading Type... below it are different styles of
writing the date.. choose the one that u want...

Hope this helps.... Also i suggest you go through the other functions that
are there in this "Format Cells"... will help you a great deal....

If you didn't type the = sign yourself, go to Tools/ Options/ Transition,
and deselect "Transition Formula Entry" (and preferably deselect other
options on that tab).
