Hi

Does anyone else have this problem...

On utilising the edit formula = to place a cell address from one worksheet
into another I have no problem .... until I move my mouse wheel ... this
then causes a complete crash of excel losing all unsaved data.
If I resist the urge to touch the wheel then no problem ...it seems to
happen after about 2 - 3 successful "Copies"

I currently run Windows NT 4
and Excel 97 SR-2
The mouse is a logitech PS/2

It maybe a mouse driver incompatibility problem ..

Hi Alan,
Sounds like a driver problem like you indicated..
Something you might try (3 button, or 5 button mouse) :
Change the wheel button default to Enter instead of AutoScroll
in the Control Panel.

You might try a different mouse, such as
a USB mouse if your computer has a USB port.

II have a page on mouse problems mostly related to what looks
like a ghosting problem, or the cells being selected without holding
down a mouse button. It is hard to break out of this and many people
simply reboot the system, though they could have terminated Excel
from the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del). Several suggestions are
offered to try to break loose including use of Ctrl+PageUp and Ctrl+PageDn
through all the worksheet tabs, and wild use of going from one side to the
other with the AutoScroll (wheel button). But...

Your problem does not sound like that, since the system goes down
without your help, you might look for new drivers, which has helped
a lot of people. If the LogiTech drivers don't work try a Microsoft driver.

In the meantime, make frequent use of File, Save for both your
Excel file, and if you change your personal.xls also for it.

Please provide feedback, on failure, success, partial success.
